Earlier this week, I stumbled upon an online post on LinkedIn, where a project management training provider[1] conducted a CAPM® certification preparation class to high school students. This post brought a short debate with the instructor, who posted the original message. I had also started a discussion online, which has generated many responses.

Is building a PMO the right answer or do we need OPM?

This article (actually a presentation) is a follow up to the last post on OPM.

At the end of September 2014, we had the pleasure and opportunity to support the Dubai International Project Management Forum (DIPMF.ae) where we led a 3-hour workshop on how to build the organizational project management system. The workshop slides were in the previous post.

In addition to the workshop, we had a short presentation on how to transform from PMO (project management office) to OPM (organizational project management).

Dubai, UAE, and GCC boom; a hisorical perspective

This article is the first of a series that we published in a regional magazine a few years back. The concepts that we discussed then and the message of these articles are still applicable today, hence the republication here!

In a place like Dubai, Jeddah, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Manama, and many other places in West Asia, particularly the GCC[1] one can observe a major boom. Construction cranes are everywhere dominating the skylines. Buildings are appearing like a forest growing rapidly of the grounds. Islands are emerging out of the relatively calm gulf water and skyscrapers are reaching higher and higher into the clouds. This magnificent growth is unmatched in the world. Continue reading
